I said in an earlier post that I will be doing reviews chronologically, starting from early years and working towards the present. While I thought that was a good idea at the time, I realize now that I don't really want to restrict myself in that way. This does not mean I will be focusing only on recent stuff from now on, it just means that I will be picking levels to review in a less predictable manner.
My next review is actually going to be of a level from 1998, but I felt like making this post just so no one bugs me later on about how I somehow skipped five years.

A small change

I have to say this blog is a really good read so far. Keep up the good work.
Thank you.
Any particular reason for this change?
Two reasons, really. The first is that I want to do a wider variety of stuff than just old levels right now. I have ideas for stuff I'd like to review which I'd like to use instead of just put on the shelf for however long it takes me to get up to that year.
The second reason is that for some level makers, such as martin, his early stuff really sucks but the later stuff is pretty good. It would be best to focus the first reviews of his stuff on his better work, and then move on to his less-good stuff to show what his work was like when he was just starting out. I find that's a much more interesting way to do things.
So, basically, you're impatient? :-)
If you're open to suggestions, here's one: when you want to show the progression of somebody's work, there's nothing more natural than to do it chronologically. If it happens that the first few levels are bad, then so be it, because it's also natural for improvements and refinements to be made as time goes by. Seeing somebody's work get better and better is no less interesting than starting with the best and then degenerating level quality. It's just that doing it all in the right order, regardless of quality, would give the most accurate historical picture.
I'm impatient as hell!
You're right on all your points, of course, and that's the exact reason why I initially set out to do the blog like that. Thinking about it more deeply though, a blog like that may be more interesting for some people to read, but on my end it's not as interesting to write. I'm just not the sort of person who enjoys doing things in a meticulously calculated way, and ultimately it comes down to that.
I've been thinking, after a modest number of reviews accumulate, I will retool the labels for the posts, adding highly specific categories such as Reviews (All), Reviews (1998), Reviews (1999), etc. That should help a bit.
And speaking of (im)patience, I plan on posting the next review on the weekend, but I might be able to get to it before that if I have the time. As nice as it is to keep up a quick pace, posting something every few days, it's kind of time consuming!
